Esslinger Foods Ltd. continues a family tradition going back more than 50 years of providing special quality products to Canadian chefs.
Starting in the 1950’s, Dr. William Esslinger pioneered the introduction of the highest quality Swiss soup and sauce products to Canada. At first, some of the retail products were reformulated for foodservice use in co-operation with leading chefs in Canada, and subsequently new products were developed at the suggestion of other chefs in Canada and the U.S.A.
Amongst other achievements, we were instrumental in the founding of the Canadian Federation of Chefs de Cuisine in 1963 with Martin Elgeti and Bill Schmidts. In 1968 we sponsored the Canadian team for their first participation in the International Cooking Olympics at Frankfurt, Germany and organized the use of the kitchens of Eugen Lacroix G.M.B.H. for the team.
Having already become Canada’s largest importer of dehydrated soups and sauces, we subsequently built the most advanced facility in North America for the production of dehydrated foods using new manufacturing methods.
Today, Esslinger Foods continues this tradition. We are 100% family owned and occupy a unique position in the industry with our ability to constantly bring new and innovative products to the Canadian foodservice market.
Through our network of sales agents, we are able to immediately introduce the latest ingredients and recipes to our customers across Canada without having to “list” them with distributors – because we sell and deliver our products directly to our clients!
